About Mlinda

An impact organisation at the intersection of energy and enterprise.

Mlinda is a foundation-led group working in rural India to make clean energy the foundation of stronger local economies.

Our story

From first mini-grid to integrated model.

Mlinda started with a simple observation: rural communities in Jharkhand had among the lowest energy reliability in India, and this was holding back everything from agriculture to schooling to enterprise.

Our first mini-grids proved that reliable renewable power was possible. What became clear over time was that power alone would not transform livelihoods. That understanding shaped the integrated model we work with today.

Mlinda now operates as a foundation with an in-country operating company (MSEPL) and a supporting trust, working with a network of funders, partners and local teams.
